"China's statistics work has played a significant role in economic and social development, and the supervision of statistics work has been improving," said the report submitted to the standing committee at its four-day bimonthly session.

"China's economy will be transformed from old to new by involving innovation and supporting policies, by how structural transformation can be promoted in more places, how new technologies, industries and formats can be continuously conducted and changed in various sectors," said Zhang Yansheng, secretary-general of the academic committee of the National Development and Reform Commission.

"Chinese flights' on-time performance hit 80.35 percent during the first half this year," a year-on-year improvement of 0.83 percentage points, Sun Shaohua, deputy head of the Civil Aviation Administration of China's operations and monitoring center, told a news conference on Tuesday.

"China will make joint efforts together with the rest of the world community to promote the UN playing a greater role in safeguarding world peace and promoting common development," Ma said.
